Earnings season kicks off this week as several of the largest financial companies report quarterly financial results. The week is a big one for the Dow Jones Industrial Average, with five of its 30 components reporting.

Dow Jones Industrial Average Gets Spotlight

To kick off earnings season, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gets the spotlight as multiple components report this week, including some of the index’s largest by weight.

Here are the reports this week:

  • Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ): Q3 report Tuesday before market open
  • Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS): Q3 report Tuesday before market open
  • JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM): Q3 report Tuesday before market open
  • UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH): Q3 report Tuesday before market open
  • Travelers Companies (NYSE:TRV): Q3 report Friday before market open

Together, these five stocks make up more than a quarter of the leading ETF tracking the index, the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (NYSE:DIA). Here are the rankings of the five stocks in the price-weighted ETF:

  • GS: largest holding, 10.30% of fund
  • UNH: 6th largest holding, 4.36%
  • TRV: 7th largest holding, 4.24%
  • JPM: 10th largest holding, 3.83%
  • JNJ: 15th largest holding, 3.01%

The five stocks make up 25.74% of the ETF’s assets, which could make the fund volatile this week.

Key Items to Watch

Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan are several of the big financial companies reporting this week. Like others, these financials beat estimates in the last quarter and hit 52-week highs after their last report. Goldman Sachs stock fell since then, while JPMorgan is one of the few outperformers among the big bank stocks since the last round of earnings.

"Investors will be watching several key factors. Will potential higher-for-longer interest rates continue to support lending profits? Will there be a resurgence in IPOs?" Freedom Capital Markets Chief Market Strategist Jay Woods said in a weekly newsletter.

Woods said it’s also important to hear what bank executives have to say about the "health of the consumer and the economy."

For UnitedHealth, Woods says the stock is "starting to recover" after a rough 2025.

"Watch to see if insurance premiums are finally keeping pace with patient care costs and whether its Optum Health business can sustain its recovery. After raising guidance last quarter, management needs to show that the turnaround has staying power and that improving profitability can carry into 2027."

After spinning off the consumer business, Johnson & Johnson is more of a play on medical technology and pharmaceuticals. Investors will look for continued revenue growth and strong earnings, with a consistent history of beating estimates.

Travelers is one of the lesser-followed names in the Dow Jones, but it offers a look at the overall insurance sector, including how fewer hurricanes in the United States than normal in 2026 could impact financials.
