TotalEnergies SE (NYSE:TTE) stock traded higher in Monday’s premarket session after the company expanded its U.S. renewables joint venture with KKR & Co. (NYSE:KKR).
TotalEnergies and KKR signed an agreement to add 700 megawatts of U.S. solar assets to their 50/50 joint venture, formed in 2025 and currently holding 1.4 gigawatts.
The transaction covers three utility-scale solar projects in Texas and Ohio with an enterprise value of $1.2 billion. The projects are expected to begin commercial operations by the first quarter of 2027.
Their electricity is already contracted to third parties or will be marketed by TotalEnergies, which will continue operating the assets after closing. The companies expect to complete the transaction in 2026, subject to customary conditions.
The deal extends TotalEnergies’ broader renewables partnership with KKR. In August, TotalEnergies agreed to sell KKR a 50% stake in a 1.2-GW solar and wind portfolio across Germany, Spain, France and Poland, valuing the assets at 1.8 billion euros.
At $87.62, TotalEnergies traded below its 20-day SMA of $88.45 and 50-day SMA of $88.47, while remaining above its 100-day SMA of $86.21 and 200-day SMA of $83.35.
The 50-day SMA remains above the 200-day SMA, supporting the longer-term trend, while MACD is below its signal line and a negative histogram points to weaker near-term momentum.
