Listen to the news

InterDigital, Inc. (Nasdaq: IDCC), a wireless, video and AI technology research and development company, today announced it has been awarded a preliminary injunction against Transsion by a court in Brazil.

The 3rd Regional Business Court of Rio de Janeiro ruled that InterDigital is entitled to a preliminary injunction resulting from Transsion's infringement of two InterDigital 5G patents. The court also found InterDigital's licensing offer to Transsion to be fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory (FRAND). As a result of the injunction, Transsion is prevented from selling 5G-compliant devices in Brazil.

The decision follows the publication of an independent expert report, commissioned by the Rio court, which fully supported InterDigital's position that Transsion infringes both of the patents-in-suit and that the patents are essential to 5G.
