Listen to the news

The Travelers Companies, Inc.'s (NYSE:TRV) dividend will be increasing from last year's payment of the same period to $1.10 on 30th of June. This makes the dividend yield about the same as the industry average at 1.6%.

Travelers Companies' Projected Earnings Seem Likely To Cover Future Distributions

We like to see a healthy dividend yield, but that is only helpful to us if the payment can continue. However, Travelers Companies' earnings easily cover the dividend. As a result, a large proportion of what it earned was being reinvested back into the business.

The next year is set to see EPS grow by 34.0%. If the dividend continues on this path, the payout ratio could be 18% by next year, which we think can be pretty sustainable going forward.
