Yeahka Drops To HK$10.20, Yet Insiders May Have Sold Too Early
Share
Listen to the news

Despite the fact that Yeahka Limited's (HKG:9923) value has dropped 16% in the last week insiders who sold CN¥3.8m worth of stock in the past 12 months have had less success. Insiders might have been better off holding onto their shares, given that the average selling price of CN¥12.63 is still below the current share price.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Yeahka

The Executive Director & CFO, Zhijian Yao, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for HK$3.8m worth of shares at a price of HK$12.63 each. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of HK$10.20. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels. Zhijian Yao was the only individual insider to sell over the last year.

The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

The last three months saw significant insider selling at Yeahka. In total, Executive Director & CFO Zhijian Yao sold HK$3.8m worth of shares in that time, and we didn't record any purchases whatsoever. Overall this makes us a bit cautious, but it's not the be all and end all.

Insider Ownership

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. Our data indicates that Yeahka insiders own about HK$43m worth of shares (which is 1.0% of the company). However, it's possible that insiders might have an indirect interest through a more complex structure. Whilst better than nothing, we're not overly impressed by these holdings.

What Might The Insider Transactions At Yeahka Tell Us?

An insider sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. Looking to the last twelve months, our data doesn't show any insider buying. While insiders do own shares, they don't own a heap, and they have been selling. So we'd only buy after careful consideration. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. While conducting our analysis, we found that Yeahka has 3 warning signs and it would be unwise to ignore them.
